Our Founder

Erum Ahmer

A teacher first, for more than twenty years — in classrooms, as an academic coordinator, and now running a learning-support centre built around the children other programmes move past too quickly.

Erum Ahmer, founder of After School Academy

Classroom experience

18+ years as a class teacher for grades 1–5, followed by 10 years as an academic coordinator for a British-curriculum primary school — seeing how children learn from both inside the classroom and across an entire school programme.

Private tutoring

15+ years tutoring privately, working with children from BayView Academy, Springfield School, Foundation Public School, The Learning Tree and more — with particular attention to slow learners and children who've lost confidence.

Our approach

Building the foundation before chasing the syllabus

A child who is "behind" is usually missing one earlier building block — not many. We find that block first, in a small group or one-on-one, and build up from there with patience instead of pressure.

Meet them where they are

We assess, not assume — every child starts from their actual level, not their grade label.

Small batches, real attention

Group and one-on-one sessions, kept small enough that no child is guessing quietly at the back.

Confidence is the real subject

Grades improve once a child believes they can learn. That belief is what we teach first.

Health, safety & care

What you can expect when you walk in

Masks & hygiene

Masks are worn on the premises and hand sanitisation is required before entering the classroom.

Monitored classes

Every class is monitored by camera, so both academic and social standards are maintained at all times.

Inclusive by habit

We mark World Down Syndrome Day and similar awareness moments with our students — kindness and inclusion are taught alongside Maths and English.
